This first stage of competition is held at local CrossFit gyms so you get to compete in the comfort of your own gym and around your local community. The open is a great chance to compare your fitness to yourself over time and your peers across the world.
Example. Am I going to make it to the games? Not a chance. Am I going to make it to regionals? Not a chance. However this will be my 4th time doing the Open and I can see how my fitness has improved over the last 4 years. I also get to compare myself across my division to everybody in the world and every year I have been fitter compared to myself and compared to my peers. I went from the 25th percentile my first year to the 70th percentile last year.
Our goal is to become fitter and The Open gives us a chance to find out if we are. The Open is our measuring stick.
