Supporting the people around you is very natural, if that is buying girl scout cookies from your niece, donating for a 5k charity race, helping your buddy move to a new apartment, or cheering them on during a workout. On the other hand supporting people not directly in contact with you is difficult and can be easy to ignore.
Addiction is one of the biggest issues that we are fighting today as a society. There is not one solution to the problem and all of us can make a difference to help better our community and fellow people.
A member of our community is doing what she can to help those fighting addiction. Megan Mullins is one of our coaches at CrossFit Equity and also works as a Therapist for Upper Bay Counseling. She has also worked with patients with addiction as well.
To help follow her passion of helping others, especially those fighting addiction, she has started her own company GritRx. GritRx provides nutrition coaching, personalized fitness programming, and apparel to help support initiatives to help people in need. She is also offering a free CrossFit class on Fridays at 6:30pm (beginning February 16th) for people currently fighting addiction (must be 48 hours sober to participate in class).
The free class on Friday nights is to help people cope with addiction with a positive outlet.
